“From MBSR to Mindful Tech”: Caitlin’s Curated SEL & Mindfulness Resources featured on 9/17/19 Live Webinar with Love in a Big World

These are resources from the time spent earlier today as the guest on a webinar hosted by Tamara Fyke, founder of the organization “Love in a Big World.” I’ve curated prime resources here, and everyone visiting this page can also use the discount code below for 25% off your order of my book, Mindful by Design, which has even more mindfulness and SEL exercises to incorporate into your personal life, professional world, and creative realms, with tech infused in purposeful ways. If you choose to get a copy of the book, do let me know how the ideas and exercises come to life for you!

I’ll be refining this page and features, adding more resources, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly (caitlin.krause@gmail.com) if you have questions. Thanks!

Mindful by Design: It’s been so motivating to see the ideas, stories and strategies in Mindful by Design reaching and helping others worldwide, affecting their quality of experience each day, in and out of classrooms. I pack a lot of exercises in this book, and I’m starting to hear even more from readers about how they have been benefitting from them. After a debut at SXSW, Mindful by Design has been written about in Forbes, and was featured at summer conferences including ISTE and BLC. To order your copy of Mindful by Design with the 25% discount rate created for this webinar event, you can go to the book page on the Corwin Press website and order your copy using the code C193M4. Note: When you make that order online, the discount applies to the book price only. To receive 25% and free shipping, you can call Customer Service (800-233-9936) and place the order by phone. And, if you use this book in your classroom or school, there’s a chance that it will also be covered or reimbursed by your school’s budget. I have been part of book clubs and teaching organizations that use Mindful by Design exercises and methodology, and I’m also available to schedule a webinar, talk, or related PD session with you and your school.

A lot of these ideas (above) start to crystallize with more readings of the latest studies and journals, as well as some deeper dives into articles like this one from Edutopia that talk about the history of mindfulness, SEL and MBSR. Present is informed by past, after all, even as we are future visionaries! If you have articles you love, please do share and let me know! Thanks!

I journal and scribble on a regular basis to get in the flow, and I also use tech in various ways, including digital media, AR and VR. So, there’s a lot more to dialogue about here! On that note, as you join a community here, you can also continue to sustain your own practices of contemplative learning, whether that’s through journaling, art, or some other expression. How do you best capture personal reflections? Do you use digital or analog devices? If you teach in a classroom, how do your students gather resources and reflect?

Please reach out if you would like to talk more about this topic, and explore ways that I could help you and your team use mindfulness and SEL to empower connection. More to come! Thank you, Caitlin Krause (caitlin.krause@gmail.com)
